Well the big day finally came. The day that I've looked forward to for the last 18 years. My first born's high school graduation. These boys have all been stellar kids. Smart - high honors - athletic - role models - and I was so looking forward to seeing that showcased. Well, as it turns out, we lost a baseball game and unfortunately that put us in the losers bracket for the state baseball playoffs...... which meant that we would be playing a state baseball game at the SAME time our graduation was scheduled for. This was also a something that I had spent years looking forward to. From the time these boys were 12 years old, I just knew that they were going to win the state baseball title. So this was somewhat of a delimma. It all worked out for the best in the end. Our boys were able to graduate on the baseball field at UVU. It was short, sweet, direct and to the point. It lasted absolutely NO LONGER than 10 minutes! There were no boring superintendent or valedictorian speeches to sit through. We didn't have to sit through 500 other kids walking across the stage to see our 11 kids..... It was just us! They threw their gowns on over the top of their uniforms and just wore their baseball hats and cleats. Each one was presented with their diploma, the crowd applauded, we were able to snap just a couple quick pictures and they quickly unzipped their gowns and they went on to play the most unforgettable game against MMHS!
These boys have been the best of friends for the majority of their lives and I don't think they would have had their high school graduation any other way. Truth be told, most of their graduating class wanted to be at the ballpark with them. (They were giving updates on our unbelievable game against MMHS during the graduation ceremony.)
