SHHS Baseball Team

Congratulations are in order for this handsome boy! He made the Salem Hills High baseball JV team yesterday! Can’t wait for baseball season to begin!

Our baseball season had JUST BARELY gotten under way with only 3 games played before the whole baseball season was "postponed", aka CANCELLED right along with the entire season of Spring itself!  All baseball, NBA Basketball playoffs, spring soccer, Easter, parties, school, prom, church, etc was "postponed" because of the Coronavirus.  And sadly, I only made it to two of the games.  All of them were away games.  One in Orem, one in Uintah (I didn't go to that one.  No thanks on the 3 hour drive one way) and then Bountiful.  But at least I got some pictures of the two games.

Sidney’s Send off to Sydney!

Last year Sidney really wanted to do a Rome Abroad program. When she got everything ready for her application, she realize that you had to be 20 years old. Fast forward to this year when she IS 20 years old, and she’s finally able to do it! She chose to go to Sydney, Australia! She is so excited! She interviewed with a couple of families and decided on the Ishkhanian family.  She will be there nanny for the next three months. They have three kids. Two girls ages seven and five, and then a little boy who is one and a half years old.  They are Armenian and are all just incredibly beautiful!  Their skin tone, their eyes, their hair, all of it!  They look like the Kardashian's!  They live just outside of Sydney in a city called Mosman.  Last night we had a little going away party for her. We invited a few neighbors, family, some of her friends and her boss and his family.  We had treats and lots of laughs.

Sweethearts for Cade 💕

Cade got home from his stay in the hospital and left for his date two hours later! He took Ashton Fussleman and they both looked so nice!
Cassie Baum took their pictures up  Loafer Canyon and then they came to our house for dinner. I made Asian salmon, soy chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls, green salad and caramel brownies for dessert. Jeff also made his famous Bananas Foster for dessert! After dinner, they killed a little time at my house before going to the dance and watched Sammy Richards perform magic tricks! 😂 Sounds funny to say they watched his magic tricks but he’s actually really good! Then they went to the dance, then to Big Luke Degraffenreid‘s house for a movie.

Sweet, Sick Cade 😢

My sweet Caden started to feel sick last Saturday, Feb 8th. On Sunday he started to feed her and he ended up staying home from school the whole week. We thought he had strep throat and started him on a Z pack. Unfortunately azithromycin does nothing for strep throat. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We didn’t know. He continued to fever and his throat was killing him. I took him to the doctor the following Thursday. Dr. Miller said his throat was really swollen and put him on a high dose of Augmentin. The next morning, Dr Miller called me to see if Cade was feeling any better at all. I let him know that careful the exact same. He told us to bring him right in. Jeffy brought him over and Dr. Miller took one look in his throat and admitted him straight into the hospital. He had developed staff in his throat and was totally dehydrated. Both of his tonsils were swollen, but his right tonsil is so hugely swollen, that it was pushing his uvula to the side. Dr. Ence, an ENT, came to his room and you said a giant, fat needle to drain the abscess. He sucked a bunch of infection out with one needle then had to stick a second one in and drain more. It hurt poor Mr. Skittels so bad. 😢 Tears just rolled off his cheeks, but by that evening he was feeling so much better! They put him on yet another anabiotic, his third one and pumped him full of fluids.  His fever finally broke and by the next afternoon, which was Saturday, Feb 15th, a full week of being super sick, he was able to go home! And believe it or not, two hours after he got home, if he left on his date for Sweethearts!

Thank goodness for modern medicine and lots of prayers.
