Gingerbread Houses and Christmas Eve

I love the traditions that we've started ever since Grandma Higg quit having her Christmas Eve party.  We always have my mom sleep over.  (This year we had our friend Vicky Ashcraft fly in from California to spend the whole Christmas break with us too.)  We have a big open house for anyone and everyone.  We buy tons of chinese food and just visit with everybody.  Then after everyone is gone, we load up in the car and drive down to the cemetery to put candles out on the graves.  Salem does such a fantastic job with the luminaries.  It looks beautiful every single year.  Then when we get back home, the kids get to open up the gifts they bought for each other and usually they open up grandma's gifts.  We don't get to bed until somewhere around midnight.

We started out our evening by decorating gingerbread houses.

We had enough Chinese food to feed an army!  Behind each open container of food are 3 more containers of each dish.

I bought this Magic Reindeer Food at Deseret Book.  Cade and Molly had a fun time sprinkling it around outside.
