Candy Day was very different this year. It was the first time it has ever happened without my mom. The absence of her presence was definitely felt. Having her gone has left a hole in my life. Sidney tried a few attempts at making her English toffee but it just wouldn't turn out right. Although she had made it with her for several years, my mom was always there to coach her along. My cousin Shaun Lindberg's wife Karlene was able to replicate her peanut brittle though! We also missed Mandy, Haislee, Polly and her granddaughters Mia and Sophie. But for the first time we had Kathy and every one of her girls along with Diana's future daughter in law, Maddie which was really fun. My mom would've been so thrilled to have them there. This was also a somber candy day because my cousin Brandie has terminal lung cancer that has moved into her eye. She was feeling good so she made it down to candy day. While I'm so grateful she was able to come, I knew that this was most likely her last. So I just took my time with her and enjoyed her presence there with us. Molly's friends, twins Azzlyn & Caelyn, who live with us helped out. Lastly, my friend Jane Pauni popped in with her kiddos. I didn't know that she was also friends with Shelly and Mandy who had invited her. Small world! Fun to have her join us too.
