German Christmas Markets

November 29 - December 9, 2024
We went on the most fun trip with our friends!  We flew out the day after Thanksgiving to Munich Germany with Danny and Suzanna.  Mark and Allison and Brad and Shannon had flown out earlier to Prague. Since we had already been there, we decided to fly out later and spend our extra time in Budapest Hungary.
We spent the night in Munich and took the subway into the city to see their Christmas market. I was completely in awe!  It was so fun to see in person! We shopped around and had fun seeing all the sites.  The next day we took an hour and a half drive away to Regensburg, where we met up with the others and got on our Viking cruise ship.  We toward around Regensburg before we set sale that night and headed toward Nuremberg.  Spent our first cruise day, seeing the Christmas markets in Nuremberg and then made our way to Vienna, Austria.  Austria is on my top favorites list now!  I loved how clean it was and the architecture of the buildings.  It was a very classy, beautifully decorated city.  We spent a couple of days there shopping, eating, touring around and enjoying the Christmas markets.  Then we made our way to Budapest, Hungary. That was also an incredible place to see!  Again, I loved the architecture of the buildings, the cobblestone streets, the amazing churches, and of course, the Christmas markets.  One thing that Really stood out to me and all of these places is that everyone said, "merry Christmas "instead of, "happy holidays".  It was so refreshing to hear the actual phrase of MERRY CHRISTMAS!  Everywhere we went, whether it was at a church, in a Christmas market, or on their government, parliament billings, there were nativities everywhere we looked!  Big, beautiful, life-sized nativities.  I loved hearing people talk of Christmas as it should be, a celebration of the birth of our Savior.  It was a very beautiful way to start off the Christmas season for me.  A Christ centered Christmas as it should be.
