Haunted Half Marathon

October 28, 2017
Suzi has taken up running - in her 40's!!!! But hey, good for her!  She talked Katelyn and Sidney into running in the Haunted Half Maraton.  Sidney usually only (and I say ONLY very lightly!) runs about 7-8 miles at a time.  She likes running but no more than that.  So Sidney and Katelyn committed to running the 5K.  Suzi started her run a good hour before the girls did and she got done an hour or two after they did but we were still there to cheer her on!  I don't know how runners do it.
I -- WOULD -- DIE!
This is a costume race since it's held right before Halloween.  Suzanna picked out the costumes and they were really cute!  They were Rockford Peaches softball players from the movie A League of Their Own.

Carving Pumpkins

I love carving pumpkins - now that I'm an adult!  When I was a kid, I would get our a steak knife and use that to carve with.  I would about cut my fingers off every single year!  I love the new carving tools that make it so simple and SAFE to carve!  Where were these 30 years ago???

Molly wanted a Jack Skellington face so she drew one on herself and carved away.  They eyes and nose turned out perfect, but the big, toothy smile that Jack has was too hard for her to do, so she cut it out into a big smile and it turned out super cute!  She did so good for her first time without a pattern!

Jeff was pretty proud of his carving job and nominated himself as having the BEST PUMPKIN in the family!

As usual, Cade never not ever uses a pattern and I always LOVE his cute pumpkins!  Although he told me that it was supposed to be scary, I thought he was a pretty cute pumpkin myself!  I loved his stitches on his face.   He is always so creative!

The little piece between the moon and the bat wing broke, but it still turned out alright!

She got in the shower and started carving later than the rest of us so I didn't get a picture of her holding her's before we lit them up.  But I thought it was a super cute palm tree and flamingo!

The Red Barn Pumpkin Patch

We spent a fun but CHILLY day at Rowley's Red Barn Pumpkin Patch with my mom and my brother Brian's family.  Crazy enough---this was the FIRST time Brian and Diana have ever taken their kids to a pumpkin patch!  I about died when they said they'd never been!  So I of course HAD to take them there!  We all had lots of fun!

Moments after I took this picture of Molly and Julia going down the giant slide, another man and his two little kids went down, then Brian and I were going to go down.  While the man and his kiddo's were still on the slide, a giant gust of wind came up and flipped the slide up from the bottom up.  Much like a rug looks when you shake it.  They were just getting to the bottom so luckily it just rolled them right off to the right side.  Thankfully they weren't hurt!  We just headed back down and went down the littler slide instead!

After the "slide incident", we headed to the corn maze.  Molly get anxious over wind and really just wanted to go straight home!  But I made her stay, held her hand and we ran all through the maze.  (she was still a nervous wreck though)

After the maze we shot the apple cannon's, went through the bin maze and then picked our pumpkins.  It was just too cold and windy at that point to stay any longer so we got back on the wagon train and headed back up to the barn.  We bought some apples and donuts there, then everyone came back to my house for taco soup, and the donuts of course!  We watched movies and Julia and Ethan ended up spending the night.

While in the corn maze, Cade and Brendan picked loads of corn and FILLED their hoodies!  They had a couple pounds each!  And funny enough, they ended up with the corn going down their backs and down their pants and in their shoes.  They had corn in places where it doesn't belong, it was everywhere!  Ha Ha!
