Harvest Moon

Did anyone see the moon this morning? I was getting my son up for school and when I opened my blinds, this was my view. The moon was big and yellowish. I took this photo out my front door. Honestly, I hate mornings. I wake up with my heart full of hate. I love to sleep in! But I am so glad that I got to see this.

Four Cheese Mac with Bacon

Oh talk about comfort food! I saw this recipe in a magazine today and thought, "Oh I gotta make that tonight!" Mac-n-cheese === with BACON! It probably should be called "High Cholesterol/Heart Attack on a Plate" instead, but either way it is Y U M M Y!

1 box (1 pound) cavatappi --- I used shells instead.
8 slices bacon - cooked and diced
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp bacon grease - reserve from the hot pan when you finish cooking the bacon
3 tbsp flour
2 cups 2% milk
1/2 tsp dried onion flakes
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese - shredded
1 cup colby-jack cheese - shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese - shredded
8 slices of Kraft American cheese

*Boil noodles till tender and drain.
*Cook and crumble bacon and reserve 2 tbsp of grease.
*In the bacon pan with the grease, add the butter and whisk in the flour till smooth. Slowly whisk in the milk. Add the onion, salt and pepper. Bring to boil over medium high heat. Then reduce and simmer for 2 minutes.
*Remove from heat; whisk in American cheese slices till melted.
*Mix remaining cheeses together with the bacon pieces in a separate bowl.
*In the pasta pot, combine the cooked and drained pasta with the cheese sauce. Coat a baking dish with a non stick cooking spray. Pour half of the mixture into the baking dish.
*Sprinkle top with half of the cheese bacon mixture. Continue layering.
*Bake on 350 for about 17 - 20 minutes. Then broil for 3 minutes until the top is lightly browned. Cool slightly before serving.

Fall in the Mountains

Yesterday my kids and I along with my mom, my brother Glen, his wife Kathy and their kids all went up in the mountains and drove the Alpine Loop. It was absolutely beautiful! (Jeff didn't come because he had to write a talk)

It was a toasty 94 degree summer day in the valley. So a drive in the mountains was a perfect getaway!
There was a terrible fire burning out of control down in Herriman which is right close to where we were so the sky was filled with hazy smoke.

As we were driving we saw a lot of people off the side of the road looking at something. We looked down and there was a mother moose and her baby! It was so fun to see! And we didn't even have to go to Yellowstone to see it.
It was really hard to focus on the moose because of all the trees. But the mother is on the left side and the baby is on the right side of the picture.

The fire was awful but it sure did make the sky pretty with the hazy sun and the fall leaf colors.

We drove up to this ridge and got out to look at the view. There was this crazy, powerful wind up there. It almost took your breath away it was so strong.
Our hair blowing looked funny to me.

Jens, Justin, Alec and Glen all took their shirts off and held them up as a shield in their arms. They could lean forward quite a ways before falling. The wind just held them up. I was having a hard time getting a picture of them doing it because one would fall right as I took it. So this is a picture of them getting ready to lean. You'll just have to use your imagination.

The wind was WILD but it was worth the view!

Then we drove up to Cascade Springs.

I haven't been here in YEARS! And my kids have never been here. It was so pretty. All the springs were fun to see again.

By the time we left the canyon at 8:30pm, the valley weather had cooled to a perfect 83 degrees. We all went back to my mom's house for dinner. (Jeff finally finished writing his talk and met us there). It was a wonderful, fun day!

Chad & Nattida's Wedding

Jeff and I flew down to Los Angeles yesterday for the wedding of our friends Chad and Nattida. It was held at the beautiful Pelican Hill Resort. The setting was beautiful. We sat just above the golf course and when you were sitting down you couldn't even see it. The golf course ended and then there was ocean. The ocean was all you could see. The sun was setting and it was just beautiful.
We met up with several of our friends there who all live in different states, and in a couple of cases different countries. It was so fun to see all of them. The wedding attire was black tie and it was fun to get all gussied up!
Their invitation was just so cute. I have never seen anything like it before. The whole wedding was done in the same fashion. The bridesmaids and groomsmen all walked down the isle carrying signs that said quirky little things on them like "For Better ---And for Worse". Which was just like the invitation.

Her dress was so beautiful and she looked amazing!

Left to Right: My sister in law Kathy, my friend Sarah who lives in LA, me and my other sis in law Whitney.
After the ceremony there was a huge party with dinner and dancing. It seriously was one of the most fun weddings that I have ever been to. So many fun things for the guests! And today---a huge group of wedding guests got on their "party bus" and went to Las Vegas with them. (AgelWorld is next week in Vegas so everyone is just going to stay through for that.) Then after Vegas, Chad and Nattida are off to the Maldives Islands! So fun huh!!!

Thanks for such a memorable night for your guests!

There's a Window in My Mouth!

I really don't know what to say other than I must be falling apart. This is the 3rd tooth that I have broken in 2 months! T H R E E! I broke my top left side molar eating a tortilla chip. A large chunk broke off and it looked like a dog's fang. Then about 2 months later ( which was last week ) I broke my top right side molar eating a brownie. In fact if you scroll down a few posts I posted the very brownies that I broke my molar on. Then today I broke my front tooth eating soup. None of them hurt at all before they broke, when they broke or after they broke. They just broke. I swear that I am sick or something and I just don't know it yet. My poor skin is all red and splotchy from crying about it.

I decided that I either needed to move into the back woods of Mississippi or just become a construction worker. Then I bawled over how I look and over what I am going to have to go through to have it fixed. Then I got really ticked off about it. Then I got slap happy over it and couldn't quit laughing at myself! I had a couple of hours to kill before I had to go to the dentist so I decided that since I was loosing my teeth like a 7 year old, I may as well wear my hair like one too! Thanks Jamie for doing my hair AND playing photographer!

Then I thought about all the neat things that I could do with a window in my mouth. I can stick wheat through my window........

I can squirt water through my window!............
Can you see the water? He He!

I can put raisins on my other teeth and really look like a pirate. (the neighbor kid told me that I looked like one and that was WITHOUT any raisins!)

I can blow bubbles with my gum through my window........
Well little ones anyway, but I can't bite down to clamp it off. Wow! The possibilities are endless! But alas I must go to the dentist now and possibly get a bridge. :(
Hopefully I will just get a crown in some way!

One last photo of me and the 7 year old neighbor kids who are also missing teeth.

Make-Up

I don't know how this keeps happening.

Somehow, right under my nose, she is able to get a hold of my makeup and sneak it into her room and put it on.

She looks like she has been beaten. She thinks that she is lovely! Awful makeup Molly!!!

Hangin' Like a Monkey

So I was in a hurry to get to church on time so I threw my 3 year old Molly in the shower with me. I start to wash us. Now you have to put yourself in the prospective view of a toddler. They hit you at about bellybutton range. Their view of the world, and YOUR body is a little different from the view of yourself looking down. She looks up at me, giggles and says. "Mom, your boobs are hangin' down." I am sure that they looked like a set of eyes watching her. Once upon a time they stood at full attention but now the fact that I have nursed 4 kids and gravity has taken over, well they look a little bit more like my Grandma Norma's did. So after her comment I was like, "Oh thank you, Molly." and in my head I was thinking, "Why you naughty little thing!" So a little bit later she giggles a little and says to me again, "Mom, (giggle giggle) your boobs are hangin' like a monkeys!" At this point I tell her to just get out. Okay, now I am not even sure what a monkeys boobs look like, but they obviously must look funny because she kept giggling about them and I seriously need a lift! Note to self: To avoid embarrassment to yourself in the future, shower alone!

Happy Birthday Cade!

Today is Cade's 7th birthday. Yes, on September 11th. I remember being in labor with him on the second anniversary and just watching footage of the attacks and memorial services all day long. But anyway, today is his birthday and he said that he wanted an Army party. So this is what I came up with. I addressed each invite to "Private ---" whoever. I put our address in the Barracks address and I put the party time in military time.
When each boy arrived, I "issued" them a white t-shirt.

We played the game Shooting Blind -- aka: Pin the Tail on the Donkey.

Then they went to boot camp. They had to address me as Mam yes Mam! They had to do push ups and sit ups.

Then I sent them through an obstacle course. They had to belly crawl under a whole line of chairs --
then they had to hop through the hoops --
zig zag through the cones --
run around the trampoline and then they had to climb to the top of my swing set and retrieve a flag --

and race back to me as fast as they could. After they did that, it earned them their helmets and dog tags. I also wanted to buy them machine guns but could not find them anywhere. Well that's not true, I looked at WalMart, K-Mart and Shopko and couldn't find ANYTHING, then I went to Partyland and found them but they were $12.99 each and I wasn't about to spend that much. So they just got the helmets and dog tags and we called it good!

Cupcakes with an Army Man. So simple!

After all that, they went out to the dirt hills and had a war with all of Cade's guns. It turned out really cute and the boys all had fun.
