Louisanna Yummy

I love this dessert! I made it the other day and for some reason it took me years to find the recipe. So, in case any of you are looking for it too.... here it is:
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 sticks of butter - not cold but colder than room temp.
3/4 c. powdered sugar
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
*Mix together and cut the butter in until mixed. Press into a 9x13 pan. Bake on 350 for 10-15 minutes. Let cool.
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. cool whip
1/2 c. powdered sugar
*Mix together and spread on top of crust
2 small chocolate instant pudding mixes
3 c. cold milk
*Mix together and spread on top of cream cheese mixture. Put more whipped topping on top and refrigerate until ready to serve.
(I also dust my top with cocoa)

Jens' 11th Birthday Party! (Finally)

I finally threw Jens his birthday -- 3 months late! But hey, better late than never right? We had a movie party. It turned out pretty fun. Jeff wouldn't let me take hardly any pictures because after all, Jens is 11 now and that is SOOO big and heaven forbid if I embarrass him by being seen and taking pictures!
When they came they ate pizza.

Then they played a little backyard baseball until sundown.

Then they watched a movie that we had projected onto the fence. I bought these really cute hard plastic popcorn buckets at Tiapan and then I made marshmallow popcorn and butter popcorn and filled them. They were really cute but you'll just have to use your imagination and thank Jeff for there not being a picture of them. Then I set out bowls of UNWRAPPED candy. Unwrapped being the key word. Can you imagine the mess a dozen boys COULD have made! No cake---because when you go to the movie you don't eat cake. You eat popcorn and candy!

July 4, 2009

Well I am finally getting around to posting about our Independence Day celebration. We usually host a neighborhood party but instead this year we had a big family party.

We BBQ'ed and had a pot luck dinner.

All the kids and the dad's went swimming.

Sidney with my niece Krisha

Jeff and Molly (who missed her nap that day and was very sleepy)
We roasted marshmallows in the fire pit.

My brother Glen, his wife Kathy and 2 of their girls, Brittany and Krisha (Sid in the background) all watching the fireworks.

FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!

CHI-CA-GO!

We just got home from Chicago last night. What a fun trip! We spent 5 days there with our friends Travis and Shasta. The Chicago river runs right through the middle of the city.

We rented a quad bike and took it along Navy Pier. It was soo much fun. We laughed our guts out. We were entirely too fat to be on it and I'm sure people had to laugh at us but it was so much fun. I am buying one!

I kept looking down and finding Shasta just enjoying her ride. Her legs held out and she wasn't peddling AT ALL! The slacker! Having us do all the work!

We took a tour bus ride though the city.

We went to Wrigley Field and watched 2 Cubs games. They played the Atlanta Braves both times. They won one and lost one.

We had a total down pour in one of the games. It was delayed for about 1 hour and then the rain let up to a light sprinkle.

Do you remember "Joe the Plumber" from the presidential race? Well this guy made his own rendition of it as Mike the Usher.

We were right against the fence on the bottom row. We were at the back of the 2nd base line. We had great views of the Braves. They sat right in front of us and warmed up RIGHT in front of us.
We went to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. Very good play!

The subways were clean and the buildings were ornate and really pretty. The streets were clean and swept as were the sidewalks. Big flower planters were all around. There were also clocks EVERYWHERE! They were on at least half the buildings and on about every corner. I took some pictures of some of the pretty ones. I have heard that Chicago's slogan is "Time is money". Well one thing for sure is that you never had to wonder what time it was.

There was even a clock on the ground. We had a fun time and this is one city I will definitely come back to visit.
