Snow Fun!

We had so much fun on Christmas break!  John and Scarlett's family came up from Arizona for Christmas and the break.  They spent the night of the 23rd with us and then spent Christmas Eve at the Johnson's cabin in Loafer.  The kids were really missing snow!  And Utah did not disappoint with the snow!  They also spent a couple nights at Danny and Suzi's house.  We loved spending time with them!  We all went sledding at The Oaks Golf Course on one of the days.  It was absolutely bitter cold!  It was in the low teens and we all froze our butts off but had lots of fun still the same.

We have had no shortage of snow - that's for sure!  We have been dumped on again and again!  Our snow blower and the four wheeler with the plow have really had a workout this year!  This first picture of Cade snowblowing with Scott Brumfield is on Christmas Day.  Remember they came up to set up the computer / tv so that we could talk to Jens...... Scott helped Cade snow blow for a bit too.

And every storm has been a serious one.  It seems like we were getting just plastered with snow.  There were several times when we would get 12 -14 inches overnight.  And of course because we live in Utah - snow is almost never cancelled.  Just delayed.  On this particular storm we got 13 inches over night.  This is the snow in the back of Jeff's truck.  Unfortunately we didn't realize that the storm was going to be that productive and we left Jeff's truck parked outside of the garage that night.

There is virtually no where to put the snow either but to just create giant piles.  Its hard to see but on the center/right side of this picture is a stop sign that is almost hidden by the snow.

Then randomly we warmed up from the single digets and teens to the 50's.  It rained on top of that and within a 24 hour period, we had at least 9 inches of snow melt.  It caused some flooding.  The storm drains were overwhelmed and overflowing.  The citizens and city employees worked together to fill and place sand bags and luckily nothing really got damaged.  All that flooding was serious I know but it sure did make for some pretty pictures!

And then it dropped below freezing again and snowed tons more!

The news gave an average snowfall total and this years snowfall totals in the beginning of January.  Three and four FEET above normal!
